When looking at where your money is going, it’s important to see what the brand stands for. Doing your due diligence and research to see what charitable contributions the brand makes is incredibly important, as you’d ideally want to shop at a company that aligns with your interests. Have no fear, though! This blog is a comprehensive guide to the most famous brands and the charities that they give to.

Target

It’s no secret that one of Target’s main focuses is on charitable giving. In fact, they donate millions of pounds of food to families in need per year through their partnership with Feeding America. How great is that? Through their programs such as Operation Gratitude and USO, Target has donated over $2 million over the past two years in order to help support active service members, veterans, and their families. The corporation itself also has a partnership with St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and has donated millions of dollars to fund children’s cancer research.

Costco

If you’re shopping at Costco, you’re in luck. This organization donates to myriad 501(c)(3) organizations that cover a wide range of topics. For example, they support children, education, and health and human services in the communities where they’re located. However, these organizations must sign up to receive their donations.

Walmart

Walmart is no stranger to charitable donations. Walmart and the Walmart Foundation are well known in the charitable sector, having given over $1 billion to help address the most pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges that take place in the world. Walmart has also been known to give community grants ranging anywhere from $250-$5,000 to nonprofit organizations

Office Depot

If your community engagement focus is more school-based, look no further than Office Depot. One of the main community initiatives that Office Depot is known for is their Start Proud! community investment program. Most recently, this program worked to deliver 18,000 new backpacks and school supplies to students at Title I schools. That’s worth over $1.5 million! Not only that, but they’ve also given a $1.5 million dollar donation to Feeding America to help replenish the food banks in the many communities that were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Annually, Office Depot does a Season of Service campaign wherein their employees volunteer at a number of different service organizations. They’ve also donated over $100,000 to help out the Boys & Girls Clubs all across the country!
